I was detailing/polishing my car, neighbor lady and her dog walk up and scare the be bajesus out of me in the middle of buffing in some compound with the PC and asked if I would detail her car for a benjamin. I said, "Sure, what is all asked of doing?"

She said, I normally go and get my car done in October and get a good wax on it, I pay him 100 to do it, just the outside. I said, Yeah, I could do that. It is a silver car.

I plan on washing, Maybe a good claying, Rewash and put a sealant on it and then top it off with a wax as my LSP.

Does this sound like a good deal? I was also thinking of giving her a 5 or 10 dollar referal for every car she has told to come to me and I do that car as well.

How long would it take to do this car without interuptions?

What kind of car?

For $100 what I would do is wash, clay, I don't rewash after clay, and then put on a good sealant or wax. Then dress the tires and trim and clean the glass.

I think it is either a Honda Accord or Toyota Camery.

If all the job is going to consist of is what Bob described, that's the going rate around here too. Maybe 1.5-2 hours at most I would say.

Here will be my step by step process.

Wash the tire, wheel wells and the alloy
Empty bucket and wash the car.
Dry with MF towels
Clay with Clay Magic and Eagle One Quick Detailer.
Dress the tires and the trim. What should I use on the trim? Can I use the same as the tires?
Wax the car with my PC and Blue pad.
Seal the Paint withe PC and Black pad.

Does this sound good for a 100 dollar Detail?

Also, I am wandering still if I should do a referal system. She recommends me and they have me detail their car, I will pay the referrer 5 dollars for every 50 dollars they have me do?

If you plan to put on paint sealant, put that on BEFORE wax. Sealants tend to not adhere to wax, but most wax will lay on top of a sealant just fine.

Also, the blue pad is supposed to be softer than black, made specifically for wax or sealant application. The black "finesse" pad can be used with some final polishes.

Like Pete said seal before you wax. Also the referral system maybe try offering her $5 off of her next wash or wax. Makes it easier on the both of you and you still get some cash when doing her car. Unless she has sent a ton of customers your way which isnt a bad thing. lol

Just finished the car, looks fantastic. Took me about 3 hours start to finish, with a break and a lunch. Since she had alloy wheels, I used a polish on that as well.

I am really liking this paint sealant stuff and the PC. Applying the wax and sealant is SOOOOOOO much easier and quicker. I am just waiting to get a wool pad and a bonnet so I can take the product off even easier.

Well I have done 2 more cars today. All went fine, except I forgot to get the bugs on the first one. The second one was a Buick LaCerne. This is a nice car. I like the rims on it, CHROME. They looked great after I put some EO Wheel Wax on them. Here are some pics. I charged a little less, they were coworkers. I am not going to turn down business because I am not going to get what I want. I would rather have the business and referrals than sit at home and think about detailing cars or be on here. I much rather deatail.

I used Collinite for the first time. I was really impressed, the real test comes when the first rain gets here. I tried the Wet Glaze, it is terrible to apply by hand. Can't wait for the pads to get here for the PC.

Looks good. What did you use on the tires?

One thing though, you forgot to clean and dress the wheel wells and left dirt on the bottom of the panel behind the tires. Other than that it looks solid.

I know, I did clean it a little right before I delivered it. I have always had problems with the wheel well. Some cars I can't get the brush back in there. I need a good all purpose cleaner. Without taking me to the cleaners.

oh, and the tires, I used EO Tire Wet.

If you can get Megs APC or AM 777 or Red Hot locally they are both good APC's. Dilute 4:1, spray, brush, let sit for 2-3 min and hit it with a pressure washer and you are good.

I get my brushes for tires and wells locally...any auto part store should have something half way decent for tires and wheel wells.

A pressure washer works wonders for such things. Minimizes the brushing and wiping, plus makes the work go faster.

If it's in your budget, that is an excellent device to have.
