Product Name: Danase Water Devourer MF drying towel

Product Container: n/a

Product Labeling: n/a

Product Characteristics: The Water Devourer is a blue and very plush MF similar to the Phat MF with a stitched border.

Product Performance: I pitted the Water Devourer against my favorite WW drying towel. This is the blue WW that Bob used to sell with a satin border, they are still available from Excel as the Monterey WW.

I washed both towels with Micro-Restore and a double rinse (vinegar in the first rinse) so they'd have an equal start. This was the second time I used a Water Devourer, but the first time I was running out of daylight and wasn't able to make a conclusive comparison. This time I did not sheet rinse so I'd have more beads of water to soak up and I was doing 1/2 of the car with each towel. I'll have to give the edge to the amount of water absorbed to my blue WW. I'm sure a lot of that is because it is a larger towel, 25 x 35, vs the Water Devourer at 16 x 24. I suspect that a Water Devourer as large as the WW would win the contest between the two towels...... so Bob, get those larger WD's in stock. The WD is great for blotting so a larger size would be just the ticket for blotting horizontal sections.

I still like them and they are a very nice and plush towel. What I finally wound up doing was finishing the car with a first pass from my WW and then finished it off with a Water Devourer.

Yesterday (my third shot at using it) I experimented and sprayed the just rinsed car with Quik Shine QD then did a first pass with my blue WW and followed up with a buff from the Water Devourer. I was very pleased with the results.

Two things I'd like to see are a larger size of this towel offered (as mentioned above) and a satin border on both this and the Phat towels. The border is mostly a personal preference for me, but I feel that type of border is much less prone to unraveling when going through a washer. As it is I wash them on a delicate cycle to try and prevent that from happening, or at least delay it as long as possible.

Good review, I really like the Devourer, I can dry my cars without wringing it out. It blot drys better than my Pakshak WW's and is incredibly soft.

FWIW, I've had zero problems with the border, no scratching or unraveling, Its been washed 4-5 times on normal, no problems. But your right, its a personal preference, satin would be nice however.

But your right, its a personal preference, satin would be nice however. It does blot very well, and when Bob gets in the "beach towel" size that will be great for blotting the horizontal panels.

I've had some other (not from Danase) MF's start to unravel, so I'm just trying to play it safe with the Phat's and WD's for the time being and using the delicate cycle for the wash.

These are what I am waiting on. Can never have enough towels.

I am anticipating the larger sized WD as well.

The Danase Extremely Large Water Devourer is now in:

I'm looking forward to trying them out...... they ought to hold more water and be plusher than anything else currently available. If you like to blot dry then I think these are just the ticket.

I love the background of the picture for the ELWD. It sucks up so much moisture the from its surroundings that everything is dried up and cracked! :D

My Extremely Large Water Devourer's just arrived and these guys are huge! I just took one upstairs and it's the same size as our large bath towels. I knew they were gonna be pretty big, but I just assumed our bath towels would be bigger.... NOT.

I started using MF's way before they became popular and were fairly hard to find. WW's were not even on the market yet and I wanted a bigger MF to dry with. I finally pestered some vendor into getting me one that was larger than any I had seen before and I paid dearly for it ($27 if I remember correctly), and it wasn't nearly as large as this, probably not a big as my large WW's. My car show buddies thought I was crazy for buying it, but at the time it was the best you could get. Well, it wasn't the quality that our current MF's are so it eventually got pushed aside, but in the back of my mind I still lusted for a super MF. Not just one that was large (OK huge), but one that was also a good quality.

Well this afternoon Bob (Danase) and the UPS man delivered my dream MF. The Extremely Large Water Devourer is all that I had ever hoped for and more. Thank you Bob, you have helped fulfill one of my small dreams today .

I'll admit I'm a MF junkie. I have an Excel spreadsheet to keep track of my good MF's. There are a lot of good MF's out there, and I've got a bunch, but the Extremely Large Water Devourer is the KING, the big enchilada, the MF to end all MF's.

I have no doubt that this guy will do a better job of blot drying than anything else on the market, especially on large horizontal surfaces.

Wow, you do define obsessive compulsive!! That is too funny.

Wow, you do define obsessive compulsive!! That is too funny. In some small areas yeah, in most I'm far, far from it. I started that spreadsheet so I could go back and know what MF's were my favorites and know where they came from when it was time to order some more.

There was a time when some on-line vendors were giving a lot of stuff away, but to justify the shipping I'd order a few other items and the MF's just started to slowly accumulate. Now it would be pretty easy for me to narrow it down to my favorite 3 or 4 that would cover everything I do.

Today I put my Extremely Large Water Devourer (http://www.danase.com/exlawade.html) to the test. I washed the wife's mini-van in preparation to get some winter protection on it. There wasn't much of any LSP left so the water just kind of pooled up on it. When that happens I find the vehicles are pretty hard to dry.

The ELWD is a big towel, at 26 x 48 it's as large as our bath towels, so you want to be careful and not let it drag on the ground. This towel sucked the water off that van w/o breaking a sweat. I was concerned that a towel that large would become cumbersome and pretty heavy when soaked, but it has so much area it never really became saturated.

If you're only doing small cars the ELWD might be a bit overkill and a normal sized Water Devourer (http://www.danase.com/dawade.html) or a large WW might better suit your needs. But if you're trying to dry large vehicles, or if you want the ultimate blotting tool, then the ELWD is just what the doctor ordered.
