I enjoy detailing and am extatic to see that a forum dedicated to this exists. It looks really clean. I was given a link to this from Bonnevilleclub.com, so count this as a plug for the forums if you own a Bonneville. But I digress.

I own two Bonnevilles - a 1994 green SSEi (supercharged with almost too many options) and a 1999 dark cherry metallic SLE (base model with upgraded package). My sister drives an Oldsmobile Alero that's in my name, and perhaps purely based on that, we keep it in great condition. That has been detailed so much that I feel bad, almost, when it gets dirty.

The 94 green Bonneville has been a bit of a hassle. I bought it for dirt-cheap at 278K miles in the worst condition ever known to man in the entire history of all mankind. The previous owner had bought it in mint condition at 16K miles from the son of a dealership owner, and he let the car go. Cigars (and perhaps a little bit of reefer) had been smoked in the car almost all its life, and things were torn up pretty badly.

On the Bonnevilleclub.com forums, I have pictures of how I've torn the thing apart, replaced the seats, the carpeting, some trim, detailed most of the engine bay, wiped out the trunk and started over, etc. It's still a work in progress, and I hope to get tons of stuff done over winter break when I clean out my garage and pull it in for the detailing of a lifetime.

I can't possibly express the satisfaction in finding out about this forum, and I'm so glad we've come together like this. My first concern is how the previous owner had rust spots develop, and he simply had them painted over. There is one paint chip that has grown pretty wide, and some douche at a New Year's party (06-07) beat the snot out of one of my doors, so its exterior panel is off. Aside from that, there's quite a bit of the interior left to do, but I have pictures, so all is well if you don't follow me here.

Thanks!

Bob

Welcome to the addiction, er, club! I'm the guy responsible for helping radomir find his way over here.

As he said, bonnevilleclub.com is a great site if you own a Bonneville, or any GM with a 3800 for that matter.

I go to the NissanClub. It is a great site for all Nissan's. I got the new 07 Altima. Great site, great for info and recalls. This is a great site as well.

Speaking of Nissans, my first car that was a 93 Nissan Sentra 2-door XE. It ran almost well, but it had a leaking seal in the transmission, a leaking valve cover, though only 97K miles when I got it, and terrible stock audio. I really liked that car, but 5 days after I got it, some Dodge Stratus guy smashed into its side while looking at his girlfriend and not the road.

My supervisor at a place of work two employments ago sold me his 1990 Nissan Maxima with a 3L V6 and fully loaded with leather, Bose, etc., for $50 because it overheated on him. He got a Bonneville from his dad, and he didn't need the Maxima any longer. I turned around and sold it to a friend for $70.01, and he put $46 of parts into it and sold it for 750.

Nissans are great cars, and even the wrecked Sentra had a good resale value at $50 and a motherboard. The guy that bought it kept the leakinng motor oil leaking, but he fixed the $0.10 transmission seal. Pretty good work. He tried to sell it to someone else, reposessed it, and sold it to some other people. They drive the car over to his house every now and again to hang out. What a durable car...

But Bonnevilles are so freaking awesome, and there's nothing quite like engine bay room! Anyone put an SR20DET in a GM car before?
