I usually don't come out in the winter to do details, but this guy is a great referal generator and I can't say no. There are really only two or three of my clients that I would ever consider detailing for in the winter. Anyway, he is going to sell his Lexus and he needed it spruced up and some pictures taken so he could post it up for sale. I had just shined it up in the fall, so fortunately it didn't require a whole lot of interior work, but the exterior needed some love. I washed, clayed, lightly polished, and put a coat of Danase Sealant on it. I used the Danase Swirl Abolisher II on the outside, but I used a blue Edge 2000 pad and it didn't leave any haze behind. Here are the results of my 3 hours of freezing handiwork.

This is why I like working on white. It is always so rewarding to see it shine like that. :) It is also why the Danase Sealant is my go to product for white now.

This job also got my a great contact across the street with a man who has a great little car collection. Nothing too fancy really. Just an '05 Carrera, a Volvo and the same kind of Lexus in those pictures. Oh, and a 1965 Tiger that has won a grip of shows. (don't worry... I hadn't ever heard of one either until yesterday) He has been looking for someone to maintain his fleet as well as his plans for more cars this year. So I guess coming out of hibernation once in awhile is worth it, eh?

Looks good! Sounds like it payed off too.

I take it all the chemicals played well with the cold?

Not especially. The clay kept freezing, so I put it in a rubber glove and let it sit in a cup of hot water for a couple minutes. I kept everything else warm in the house for the day before the detail and then kept it in his house while I was working. Some things like carpet cleaner and even glass cleaner don't always work for me when it is really cold. Everything else seemed to work ok. The sealant was warm when I put it on and I just let it sit there for about an hour and a half before I buffed it off to give it as much time as possible to dry. I was worried it would just streak everywhere, but it did a good job. The polish was a bit streaky, but it was doing the job, so I didn't complain too much. It took longer than it should have if it would have been 70 or 80 degrees, but the end result was what I was going for and the nice tip he gave me made it all worth it. :) Nothin like $80 bucks an hour to make freezing your arse off seem like fun. ;)

Very nice job, I typically don't like white cars but that really does look good.

I'm really weather spoiled this winter...58 outside right now and they're calling for a high of 61 tomorrow. I'm glad this heat wave didn't occur last week or the Sabres and Penguins would have had to use Kayaks for the "Winter Classic."

Here are some interior pictures just to make it a complete show off. There is still a maximum of like 4 images per post in place, so I couldn't put them all in the first post.
