Here is what DWG and UPGP can do. First I applied 2 coats of UPGP 12 hours apart, followed by 2 coats of DWG, then one last coat of UPGP to seal in the DWG. Judge the results for yourself.

Very nice. I just bought one of the clearance sale samples of Ultima and I was wondering how Ultima Paint Guard Plus would work with Danase Wet Glaze.

Looks nice, but honestly it's hard to judge something in the garage with limited lighting.
Looks awesome! Post those outside pics I saw on the other forums! :)

Yes, I applied it with the UDM with a Lake Country blue pad.

DDOC:
1- As i do not have flex yet..is it worth it to apply DWG by hand?
2- you usually recommend UPGP first than DWG than UPGP+ ? DWG If I remember 30 minutes than can put on UPGP?
3- what about Carnuba? ever mix with DWG?
thks!

Thanks that helps, so what would you say with pc, medium speed and can you layer it right away?

1. Of course, you can always apply by hand. I just prefer to apply it by machine because it saves product, IMO.
2 . You can layer it anyway you want, it bonds to anything. I usually apply a layer each month anyway by itself. It has no curing time, but I always like to wait 30 minutes, it just makes me feel better I guess.
3- I have combined with a nuba, but usually under the nuba, but I am sure it would be fine on top of a nuba as long as the wax is fully cured. You also have to be careful you don't have too many layers of products because it might mute the finish, nothing to do with the properties of DWG, but with the too many layers of product.

No doubt that combo does look good. I'd suggest using DWG and OptiSeal or ZCS instead-both are cheaper and look good. Ultima is overhyped and mine has partially crystalized and settled to the bottom of the bottle. The tire dressing has done the same thing.

I would disagree with Ultima being over-hyped. Lots of users seem to love it. I am very happy with the results from UPGP+.
What specifically are your gripes, meaning anything above the price or crystallization of your (where was it kept,-temperatures, etc) bottle?
cheers

Obviously you missed the initial advertising blitz-LOL. As for my crystalized Ultima, it was stored indoors.
Look, Ultima isn't a bad product line but I noticed some strange things about it. The Paint Prep seems to have zero corrective ability and lacks cleaning ability-in other words it's practically worthless yet costs $30. UPGP seems to have strong solvents which makes me doubt the layering claims. Some users claim that it yellows as it ages-based on outdoor testing. The tire and trim dressing is quite durable but it also has strong solvents, as evidenced by the amount of black that transferred to my applicator when I applied it to black hard plastic. That indicates to me that it's harsh on rubber. My Tire and Trim Guard has yellowed as well. Water based dressings seem to me to be a better choice.

Strange. Never heard of that happening before. I've had mine for over 1 year now (both) and nothing like that is happening.

When I do my friends' cars, I just hand them a little shopping list for them to buy, that is how I sometimes get paid for detailing jobs. It helps them to feel less guilty about all the hard work I put into their car to transform them. I rather do that than having them pay me money, I don't feel comfortable taking money from my friends, although they often insist.

Ultima PPP does have some minor corrective abilities, which is sufficient for a car with very soft paint such as our Lexus, especially if well kept. However, the way I typically use it is as a finishing polish with a finishing pad as it leaves a nice gloss and helps with the durability of UPGP. Not all products can satisfy everyone. We each have to use what works for us and our cars.

Ultima is oxygen activated. As the level of product decreases the amount of air increases in the bottle increasing the chance of crystalizing. Also the regular bottles are tinted so you may not notice. Flip the bottle over and look at the bottom. If there is anything solid at the bottom it's the polymer.

Yes it is, it says so on their website:
"What is the shelf life of Ultima Paint Guard Plus?
We are not aware of any issues reducing shelf life. Due to the product's reactive nature with oxygen, the sprayer will fail if the cap is not applied after use."
My bottle does have some residue around the sprayer and a bit of crystallization, but it is very minor and has not affected performance at all, even after a whole year. If you habitually leave the blue cap off, then you will have major issues with the product, but I always put it back on after each use, so this has not been an issue for me. When considering that I've applied as many as 60 layers of this stuff and one year later the bottle is still about 90% full, it is definitely worth every penny. It is also super easy to apply and in my subjective opinion, it looks great. Again, you gotta use what works for you. If someone told me they use baby oil on their car and it looks great, then heck, by all means I'd say keep using it. I started a thread where people can list their "throwaway" products, you can go ahead and post there with UPGP on your list.

Sounds like you guys have the old sprayers. They did have it where you could have them send you the new pump sprayers that resolved that issue. I have had the Ultima line from the day one and my only complaint was the the stupid little blue cap always coming off .But since they revised them with the new pump sprayers with the plastic cap is been fine

So it's safe now to leave the sprayer cap on now with the the clear plastic over it?

ok how do u apply this stuff of coaurse wash the car do u wax over this or watIt's a WOWA (wipe-on, walk away) sealant. You apply a thin application with the supplied MF applicator and then just walk away and let it dry.
I like to get about 4 applications on over a period of time, it needs to cure for 12-24 hours, and then apply a nice carnauba wax. Or you can do like Doc and apply DWG on top and then seal it with another application of UPGP.

You can do it either way, I have done both. However, my preference is to top a sealant with a wax to add depth and warmth. If you strip off the wax and do 3 layers of UPGP, you will get amazing clear and sharp reflections and you can later add your wax to increase depth and warmth. If you are using the UPGP with the DWG, you really don't need the wax. The DGW with the UPGP will result in an amazing look.
Are you sure that car is not wet still??? LOL Beautiful job and awesome shine!
