View Full Version : what do u use to clean 'felt-like material ?'

On the soft felt-like area on the interior hood, upper side rails what do you guys use to clean? Shampoo? soft brush...?

Ps have Lexus ES350 black leather interior, felt is light grey like material aroungd moon roof controls side rails etc.

some people might disagree, but if its the material im thinking of, try spraying a microfiber towel with some carpet foam. same goes for headliners. what i use is car brite xtra duty interior cleaner, but carpet foam works the same way on stuff like that. just be carefull and DONT spray directly on the surface. spray the towel.

are you talking a headliner? I really like Folex for cleaning headliners, it does not foam or leave a residue behind. Just dont' get the liner wet!!!

This is essentially what I've done for many years on many headliners and similar materials.

Ones that are loose, saggy, or older are not good candidates for cleaning because they'll go bad quickly. Judgement and experience are the guidelines in such cases.

If a liner is solid in condition and very dirty, I will lightly spray the foam directly on the material, but that is another discretionary tactic: use your experience and judgement.
