I have a Nolan N102 helmet. I recently dropped it and scratched the sun visor pretty badly. I called a motocycle dealer to see how much a replacement would cost and they said $45. $45 for a sun visor which fits over the clear visor sounds rather high so I was wondering if there are any good online sites for shopping around for a better price. I searched on google and didn't have much luck. Do any of the other bikers know of good sites to find replacement parts for motorcycles?

I'd call up Nolan directly and see if they have any recommendations. Is it just a plastic part that could be fixed?

It is a plastic part but fixing it has been tricky. I put a 3.5 inch Purple Foamed Wool on my rotary with a compound and tried to buff it out at 1200 rpms and that didn't make a dent in the scratches. I went up to 1800 rpm and worked the compound longer and I think it got too hot because the plastic is slightly discolored where I buffed. I am temped to go get really fine wetsand paper 3000 or higher and sand the scratches out then go over the sanding scratches with the foamed woal pad to clean the sanding scratches up with. Not sure what to do at the moment.

If that doesn't work I'd just call Nolan and see what they suggest.

Nolan is in Italy so I need to search on the internet to find out who their North American distributor is. That or start learning Italian, Capeesh!

Yes I know I spelled capeesh wrong but that is how minimal my knowledge of Italian is, Ciao.

All I know is "fugetaboutit".

I might be joining you with a cruiser soon man. As some of you know, and as Steve (wifehatescar) put it on a ride this weekend, I change bikes more than underwear. It all started with the 250. Took it to the track and decided I just had to have a track bike. Got the track bike, sold the 250 and bought a FZR600. Well, I've been trying to sell the track bike for like 2 months now and someone asked me if I'd be interested in trading the track bike for a Vulcan Drifter 800. Sure! So, if I get this Vulcan tomorrow one of two things will happen. Either I'll sell the Drifter, because a cruiser would sell much faster than my track bike and is why I'm doing it, or I sell the FZR600. I'm guessing I'll sell the FZR because I think I'll love the Vulcan and it will be awesome for the longer rides.

You are a motorcycle junky. How does your wife put up with you?

Man, I can't keep with you and youe vehicle changes lol.

To the OP, if you drop your helmet you are really suppose to replace it, if it fell from any meaningful distance. Sorry to rain on your parade.

Well, every bike I've sold I've made money one so she doesn't complain. I should just open up a bike shop.

Well, I was carrying it while walking towards the porch at about waist level. When it slipped from my hands, I stuck my foot out to break its fall and the helmet bounced off my foot and landed on the sun visor, on the ground. So I doubt the impact affected the integrity of the helmet's structure, just scratched the sun visor.
