View Full Version : Who uses steam machines?
I was thinking of getting one for cleaning things around the house and for cleaning engine bays and things on cars.
What kind do you use or recommend?

I just love infomercials so much I bought the shark steamer. It really does work good. I use it for a variety of stuff like nasty shower stains ( I cut graphite in a CNC machine all day I get dirty  . I havent done too much with it in the auto world except some really nasty floor mats that I sprayed Ultrapac on and let dwell then hit with the steamer and extracted up with a spotter, worked really good at breaking the dirt loos from the fibers.

Shark Steamer huh? I will have to look for it. I saw a guy using a Eureka at a show last year but he said it was his mom's and he did not know where she got it. It was working great.

I got mine at Target. I think it was $99.
How good are these for engine grease and such? I would like to find a nice one, but not too expensive, for cleaning heavy grease off of engines.

Get one. I got one from Vapor Clean Products. It is unreal. I got the TR6. It will clean things like you have never seen! Wheels, engines, carpets, tight trim.
Its great for the house also, I use organic chemicals in my house, 2 dogs.
Its an initial outlay of about $750. but they sell machines that will do the job for $300. I have had the less expensive versions, they have nothing on the big boys.

If you're looking for a "toy" I saw some "Scuncii Steamers" at Big Lots a while back. I think they were around $20.00. (And, if you act now, you'll get - at no extra charge- a free floor cleaning attachment and carry bag!)
I have one similar to this. Very loud, I think. (When spraying, not heating.) Not bad for general cleaning, though. Tank is fairly small, so I'd imagine you'd need to refill at least once to do an engine.
Overall, though, I don't have much experience with them.
