Do you have a theme in your garage? Anything from neon beer signs to tin Penzoil signs can be found in garages everywhere. I've got sort of a car worship theme going on. My real goal is to finish the one wall and paint everything so it all matches. The previous owners drywalled the east wall but they never got beyond taping. I suspect they only did it because they were putting up shelves and they didn't want to dry wall around them later. So I guess I'm thankful they did what they did, but it all still needs to be finished. In the meantime I've got an array of car stuff here and there. Some Shelby worship signs on one side, my big STI flag on the other, a nifty Chevron gas pump sign with the 'wash me' car on it... It is really random, but all somewhat car related. I'd like to finish the garage next year and tie it all in with a theme. Any suggestions for a realistic normal guy kind of garage? I'm not puting polished stainless steel on the walls or anything, but advice from those who have done their garages in the past would be great.
One idea that I'm really trying hard to resist is to paint one wall like the room in Strong Bad's basement. Sorta like this...

I just think that would be cool. A red wall with a stripe on it.... Would any of you paint your garage red?
Ok, I need to know who Strongbad is. LOL
I was actually just talking to U-Coat-It about painting my garage floor and having the Danase logo painted in the center. But I keep looking at the garage floor and it's perfect. Like whoever lived in this house since the garage floor was put in never used it to change oil or work on anything. I just hate to paint it because then you have to keep the paint up and possibly repaint every few years, from what I've been reading.
I'm in the air about what to even use for my walls. I like drywall but it's not good for our humid Michigan summers. My last garage I just did a plywood walls and painted them white and had a couple of Danase banners hanging along with some odd and end car posters.

My garage is entirely sheet rocked. On the wall that isn't covered with cabinets or shelves I have the lower 3' plywood painted gray then a 4" trim board painted black with the drywall above painted white. Looks sort of cool, nothing to fancy but better than nothing. On the wall with cabinets I have checker board vinyl floor tiles stuck to the wall between the uppers and lowers. That was mostly to help out with water getting on the wall near the sink. Some of those have started to peel off with. As they come off, I've been putting them back on with construction adhesive. I don't think the same ones have come off again.
For banners / pictures I have two Meguiar's banners and a bikini calendar from 2007. lol Hey, I forgot to buy one for 2008 then it was too late. I'll make sure to get a current one for 2009. No one complained about having the same pictures this year but they did complain when they looked at the days. Who the heck looks at the days.

You don't know who Strong Bad is? www.homestarrunner.com (http://www.homestarrunner.com) The emails section is the best! There are a couple hundred of them by now, but if you start at the beginning I promise you that you will be entertained for days! It is classic stuff!!
I can not access that site from this PC! :( I'll have to look when I get home.
