View Full Version : How many of you have air conditioning in the garage?
I was just wondering how many of you have an a/c in the garage? I have a small window unit in mine just so the humidity is not so bad when detailing. The small a/c does not cool the garage all that great but their is no humidity in there. I also insullated the heck out of my walls. I need to insulate the garage door though. Maybe this weekend.

I wish I had HVAC in my garage. Sadly, I do not. However, I did replace the garage doors with heavily insulated models last year. They made a HUGE difference in the temperature and humidity levels. My garage is also partially underground, so there is some additional insulation provided by the earth.

When I go to the hardware tonight I am going to look at some insulation for my door. I have a thin, non insulated door, so I am hoping some foam insulation helps it out.

 I was having a conversation with someone earlier today. It was a really hot day here, and we were in an non-AC building for a while. We couldn't decide if it was better to open the door and risk letting in the humidity, or keep the door closed and not get any breeze. Fortunately, we only had to be there for about an hour or so before we could leave for cooler locales.
One bad thing about a heavy insulated garage. An hour after you pull in the garage is very warm from the engine heat. I need to start leaving the door open for a while and let the car cool off.

or you could let the car cool down before pulling it in the garage :D
