I'm trying to find a Velcro backing plate with the screw built into it (to fit this apparent red-headed stepchild of an orbital polisher that Porter Cable makes), but when I'm looking on Danase' site in the Viking section, it makes mention of the velcro backing pads or whatever, but I can't find them.

I'll definitely make it up later because I will buy plenty of stuff from you guys in the future, so if anyone knows where I can get a backing plate for this polisher somewhere close to Ann Arbor, I'd appreciate it. I've checked Murray's here in Ann Arbor, and in Canton already, no dice.

Which model of Porter Cable polisher do you have? If it is a 7424 or a 7336, this backing plate will fit -

I got the 7336. What I ended up doing was after work today I ran by Lowes and picked up some "industrial" strength velcro with strong adhesive backing, and stuck strips of it to the rubber backing plate that came with my PC, which was included for use with the sand paper. The car brite polishing pad holds pretty well to it, so I should be able to get started tomorrow, I'm really looking forward to trying to remove some swirl marks.

On a side note, it was a little confusing for me, but this is what it says in the description for that Lake Country backing plate:
"This 6 inch Flexible Urethane Backing Plate should be used with our 7.5 inch Velcro pads."

Are the 7.5 inch Velcro pads just the polishing/waxing pads that are also being sold in the Lake Country category? I only ask because I spent a good 15 minutes the first time trying to locate Velcro pads before giving up lol. Thanks for the help guys.

Just a note of caution: The Porter Cable 7336 can put out a lot of torque at higher speeds. Aftermarket velcro modifications might not be strong enough to withstand the shearing forces.

A 6" flexible urethane backing plate can be used with pads ranging from 6" to 7.5". It fits perfectly into the molded back of a Lake Country 7.5" Curved Edge pad because the molded section (it's like a shallow cup) is actually 6" across. If you plan to use 6" pads, just be careful that you do not allow the edge of the plate to come into contact with your paint. This can be a problem when you are working in tight areas like around side view mirrors. You could also opt to purchase a 5" backing plate, but I don't believe that Danase normally carries that model.
