Anyone who wants to participate, post a picture, or several pictures of a current detail.

Along with the picture(s) I'd like to get any sort of short story to go along with it if there is any.

I'll let the posting go for a few days and then I'll make the poll and let the poll go the remainder.

Please do not post in the thread unless you are submitting a detail. You can vote without posting. This is just to keep the threads cleaner and easier for me to go through.

Okay... I'll break the ice...

A little background:

This 2007 GMC Yukon had certainly earned its keep. Though just under two years old, it had seen substantial duty hauling around its family members to their various extracurricular activities all over Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. Unfortunately, the once vibrant Deep Blue Metallic pearlescent paint had paid the price and seemingly lost it's pop, so I was called in to provide a little TLC.


Upon arrival, the Yukon showed typical signs of being a Road Warrior : The entire body was covered in a film of road grime, the front end was splattered with insects, and the wheels had a mild buildup of grime, tar spots, and brake dust:

First, the cleansing process began with the pre-treating of all the vehicle's surfaces to help loosen up the contaminants. Wheels and wheel wells were gently scrubbed and prepped to be dressed. A little spritz of Danase Assassin with some brush agitation and the brake dust went running!

The vehicle was then pressure washed and prepped for its foam bath and 3 bucket hand wash.

Following the wash process, the Yukon was then treated to an exfoliating clay bar treatment to remove any remaining contaminants that were bonded to the vehicle's exterior:

Following the clay treatment, the Yukon was once again rinsed and properly dried with a combination of non-abrasive media in preparation for the polishing process. Next, all plastic trim pieces and various painted edges were taped off to shield them from the heat and abrasion of the rotary buffer.

Prior to beginning the polishing process, the freshly cleansed paint was once again inspected with a variety of different lighting sources. This critical stage reveals all of the imperfections in the finish and ultimately determines the proper combination of products that will be necessary to restore this vehicle to a standard that will be "better than new."

Since the Yukon required significant correction, the rotary buffer was used with a combination of wool and foam pads and Optimum Compound II to effectively relevel the paint and remove the vast majority of the imperfections.

it was time to start cleaning the passat as it was reallly dirty!!

so the full car was sprayed down in all purpose cleaner along with the arches door check's and the engine bay

while the al purpose was doing its work the wheel's were cleane with concept's alloy wheel cleaner scrubbed with a variation of brushes and the tyres and arche's being scrubbed with and old wash mitt

the car was then rinsed off to get rid of the majority of the dirt before washing wash stage comenced with two microfibre sponges and autoglym bodywork shampoo and conditioner the car was then sprayed with concept's tar and glue remover to remove the worst of the tar then it was clayed with sonus fine green clay car was then dryed with a variation of towel's while using megauir's last touch as a drying aid

the car was then proceeded to be polished via rotary with autoglym super resin polish on a megauirs polishing pad spread at 1000rpm then worked at 1800rpm then refined at 1000rpm for two passes :) after the polishing stage i decided to try jetseal 109 for the finishing product so this was applied via the rotary on a blue finishing pad and spread and worked at a 1000rpm

The windows were cleansed and polished with autoglyms glass polish

the interior was treated to a hoover and a wipe of the plastics with a damp microfibre all vents and crevises were brushed out to remove dust the pedal's and the footrest and rubber mat were cleaned with all purpose cleaner and brushes

the tyres were treated with megauirs endurance tyre gel while the arches were dressed with megauir's all season dressing wheel's were also polished with autoglym srp!

and then it was lunch time and all complete for another week 8) 8)
