That is to bad, we need to preserve history like that.

Hmmmm... I don't agree with you guys.

Maybe if it was a nice building or something but the story makes it out to be basically just another halfway abandoned building in Detroit.. that's all you see when you drive through there. This kinda reminds me of that hotel they just knocked down and everyone is throwing a fit over it. These historical preservations societies keep saying "Oh but someone could have restored it" but..... no one has so obviously you can't just keep buildings around in hopes that some philanthropist is going to wander by and think... OH I want to restore that.

I seem to remember playing paintball in the old hudson plant in detroit a few years back... is paintball really a good use of a "historical" building? nope but the thing was trashed and that's probably the only thing it was useful for. We might as well face it.. Detroit is run down and crappy and no one wants to save some random building in the middle of some crappy neighborhood where a bunch of people will probably spray paint on it or burn it down. The only areas of Detroit that are going to get attention are the ones that people will see on their way to the all star game this summer and the superbowl in 2006.

I agree with Brad. If you guys have been through Detroit you would ask why they just don't demolish 99% of the city. I cringe whenever I have to go to that place for anything.

I drove around the old tiger stadium last week and you can totally see how that area used to be nice. The street used to be red brick but they slapped random bits of black top over it so it's horrible to drive on and the buildings are all run down. There just isn't any hope for restoring it if you ask me. No one wants to move back to Detroit until it's cleaned up and Detroit can't afford to clean it up with everyone leaving. Now with Kwame spending all the money and cutting half the police/fire dept jobs, Detroit probably doesn't stand a chance.

It's funny how a few guys on xceedspeed.com are crying over restoring buildings. I am a little bit of a history buff and I agree with restoring SOME old building but not restoring the run down building that are crack homes just because it is old.
