View Full Version : What am I doing wrong?
Ok guys, what am I doing wrong here? This site is not getting the new members or post I'd like it to. I own a motorcycle forum that's like 1/4 the age of this one and gets so much more action on it every day.
Is there anything you guys want to see that would get you posting on here more?
Maybe we need to do a new member blitz and post up on Craigslist, Twitter, Facebook and Myspace about the forums? I post about DetailingForums.com a lot on Facebook and Craigslist but maybe we can get some of you guys do to the same? Maybe that will bring more members over. :)

I found this site through Autopia. I like this site and the people. It would be great to see more posts about products and detailing skills. I check in daily but I'm not much of a poster.
Thanks for the input big!

Well what are your goals?
meaning what exactly do you want?
simply more traffic? more traffic from high skilled detailers, just general car detail enthusiasts, more woman? ????
think that there would be different stategies dependent upon the wanted targets...
merry Christmas all!!!

We just need more traffic really. Any kind of detailer traffic would be nice to get the discussions going.
Same to you!

but all serious Bob, this is an excellent site, but I think it needs a little more help from all of us to help with traffic and more posts. I can do that!

I haven't posted much lately, but that's because I don't have any first hand experience with your branded products, and with you dropping international orders a while back, I'm not likely to get any. I still try to post about general questions, though.

You can post about any products you want man. And I never dropped international orders. I think we stopped any new international customers while we moved but we have international orders every day. :)

Well, shoot. I thought I read you did away with international shipping a couple years ago. Hmmm... Learn something new every day, I guess!

how about getting some video how to and opening a video and text detailed how to thread?
List all the steps and get some pro's to video---washing, claying , cleaning, interior, exterior, polishing, wehll waxing sealing etc....
Maybe a quik detilaing thrad--- for 60 min or less detail
Winter ONR how to wash video thread...
All the video shudl have step by step how to's as well
Keep video to the core 2- 5 mins, showing sections and hard parts how to use the flex or other (one w rotary new with Flex, PC)
maybe have it fist on a wiki allowing peeps to add delete to get to a final best detailing
so first maybe thread in here listing a draft of all detailing ssectionsto do, than the text on how to for that section than a video ?

I have one suggestion for today.
Put a Forum button on the Homepage toolbar so folks don't have to look for it on the left margin.
:)
Thanks guys!
What do you guys think of me removing the homepage and just having the forums?

Wouldn't bother me any. I tend to just log in and click "New Posts."
(As an aside, looking at the homepage info, it looks like you're only 4 members away from 1,000!)

So far it looks like 2 for keeping the home page and 1 neutral.
Nobody seems to hate the homepage.

What is special about the homepage? I have it bookmarked so it goes to forums and then select "New Posts".

Some people like it for some reason. I don't have one on my other forum and have not had one on past forums. A lot of the forums I'm on now don't have homepages. I'm sort of thinking the homepage might be keeping people from posting. Like they just look at the latest threads and that's it. You can still see the last threads by clicking the link on the forums.

How much longer Doc?
She is due Jan 10, but I don't think we will make it 'til then. She's already full term as of this past Sunday and she started having mild and inconsistent contractions at midnight.
Best of luck to you guys!

Ok, got some of the ideas rolling tonight. Let's get some post in them and try and get some traffic over here! Don't be afraid to talk about DetailingForums.com on twitter, facebook, myspace or anywhere else you might post.
