Congratulations Dave!

I don't know why you'd think that.
Thanks guys!!
Bob has built a great site with awesome members and I will do my best to keep this place great!
I do not plan on making any dramatic changes and do not intend to make this a forum about my company or any other, just an open discussion forum where the members here can speak freely about detailing, techniques, products, etc.
Thanks again!
That is great news, Dave and Bob! I will keep my ass in here... lol

Now just get bob to give you the rights to sell DWG, and the world will revolve properly.

I don't know why you'd think that.
Forgive me for asking, Bob.
I came home from vacation and visited Detail City only to find I was being redirected to buy from Autogeek.
It was a fair question.
Welcome aboard Dave. I hope I can find many reasons to spend more time here.

No problem man. I was just curious. I'd hope this place would never be like a DC. That's a fan club all the way there.

Nothing has really happened over there. There are just people who do not like DavidB, Autopia, Autogeek, etc. Just like you see a Meguiars, Mothers, Adam's web sites you have people who like the products, the manufacturer, and the people who frequent.
Those who do not like the sponsors or the people, never feel at home. It is sorta like a Packers fan going to a Vikings bar and trying to root for the Packers during a game.
Each forum eventually seems to have some self-appointed policeman in some shape or form after it gets some core characters. This can turn off some people too. Just like in life, someone wants to bully people (any typical social gathering) and tell you they have everything figured out so they are always exist. We just have to live with them.
This forum has not developed a unique personality yet since it does not have the traffic that most other detailing forums have. I hope you all the best in building a good forum.

I can relate to that! Going into Quest field full of Seahawk fans is a nightmare when you're a Cowboys fan lol.
I think you pretty much nailed it! It seems that once a forum gets big enough you have certain issues that have to be addressed. DF is still young and my goal is to increase traffic and be a source for good detailing information.

Haha! I had a feeling. Congrats Dave!
I changed my name to Dave, it's simple, it's my name, and all the cool kids are doing it lol. I think it's more appropriate than my business name now.
Copy cat! LOL
It's official folks! Dave is now the new owner of DetailingForums.com!
See you all later! Suckers!
I'm kidding!

The whole reason I have totally quit visiting DC, and seldom reply to Autopia threads is this...........they have developed that personality that has been discussed here. They are VERY flavor of the month driven and commercialized. Whoever has the highest % off for the month, or offers a 2 for 1 deal or whatever, wins a new customer base. The competition is very brick and mortar, which deters forum originality and function.
I dont know who runs DC anymore, but once Autopia became heavily sponsored, I bailed. I left DC WAY before that.
I think the forum that Bob built and Dave now resides over, is very unique. Everyone is free to speak about what works for them, and although sponsorship is not monetarily driven, even the sponsors have become friends. This is a forum built around detailing the hobby, and camaraderie. Being a "sponsor" here, brings more to me then paid sponsorships elsewhere (Which I have recently abandoned due to over commercialism). Dave even invited me via email, and encouraged me to retain status here, even with our pending redesign in 2010. I was also invited to retain status on another forum which offers free advertising (which will remain nameless), maybe this is a trend which entices membership. Good luck and thank you Dave, and thank you Bob!

I have sponsered my fair share of forums but always found this forum to be way more friendly and I have meet a lot of good people here. I advertised on the big "A" for a year. I like Autopia and they do have a huge amount of info on there but I stopped posting mainly because I am a retailer and I didnt want to come across the wrong way.
