Product: Rubber Dub

Container: Round with wide opening

Labeling: Decent description of what the product is for and how to use it

Characteristics: Black, thick and smells like rubber or tires. Very strong scent!

Performance: Goes on easy and a little goes a long way. Spreads fairly even but gets better after the final buff.

Safety: I wouldnt smell it all day but other than that I think anyone could use it.

I applied it with the supplied applicator which I happen to carry and like :) I had a small break in the weather that day so I quickly washed the tires and applied the Rubber Dub per the manufactures instructions.

Tire After One Application (going for a matte look)

This is what it looked like right after I applied it

I waited 20 mins as per the instructions and wiped the tires with a microfiber towel and it looked smooth and uniform. I may have applied it to thick though.

Overall I think this is a decent product based on the little experience I have had with it. The rain came pouring down right after I finished the last tire so I had a chance to see the water bead. This was 2 weeks ago and the water was still beading as of yesterday and even though the look has dropped it is still evident that there is a dressing on the tires.

This is a daily driver which has been neglected all winter. I don't care if it burns to the ground and I intentionally let it get hammered this winter. If you look close you can see the dirt on the wheel and the white paint transfer my wife did. :) Looking forward to using it as a test monkey this spring!

Any sling off or anything? I'm guessing no. Looks good. Does the looks change with more applications?

No sling the way I applied it but I don't think it would sling if you applied it and took off either. The look is supposed to change by spritzing with water and brushing the tires. I did that on the rear and did get more shine. I will have to try 2 coats and see what happens.

What do they tell you to brush it with?

Dave

A soft bristle brush, as long as it's not super stiff I guess. When I wiped it with a microfiber it seemed grabby.

I forgot to mention that the product contains carnauba wax, maybe I can get the manufacture to chim in to explain that more.

Does it clean too or just protect? Might be good for some of the rubber parts on my bike like some of the radiator hoses and what not.

No it doesn't clean. It it supposed to be good for tires, bumpers, and pretty much anything rubber like trim etc.

You going to be carrying it Dave or still more testing needs to be done?

Dave

I might be carrying it, not sure yet but I think I want to. I always try stuff before I sell it and this has been slow going for me. I have had it for some time now.

Nice, I would love to test/try out this stuff...always hate when I have to dress my tires before the next real wash. When I ONR i dont apply dressing because I cant clean the tires good enough .

Be nice if the manuf could come on here and give some more info.

Hi guys what would you like to know?

We have examples of Rubber Dub lasting for 6 months or more.
When it dulls just wash down and re-buff with a soft brush (shoe brush) whilst still wet and watch the shine come back. see http://www.detailingbliss.com/forum/wheel-wells-rims-tires/amazing-tire-dressing.htm

and this forum contains a lot of info:

Tony, thanks for coming.

So far so good for me, I plan to wash soon and hit the tires with water and a soft brush. I used Rubber Dub again today on another vehicle and had much better results than the first time where I think I applied it to thick.

Does this product also bead water for 6 months? The carnauba content interests me.

So pretty much if you want the natural look, stay with one light coat but if you want a little more sheen apply a second coat and do the mist/buff method? Am I understanding the correctly? Not the biggest fan of the natural look but with a little more sheen to it, I would be really interested in trying it out then.

Development of Bromoco Rubber Dub.
We asked detailers all over the world what they wanted from a tyre dressing and what was the most common complaints of existing products. This is what they said.
Problems with existing products
1. Only lasted a couple of days
2. The dressing splattered over the paint work
3. Remained wet to the touch and ran off the tyre
4. Came off when tyre got wet in rain or washing.
5. Way to shiny and with a wet look.
Wanted from a new product
1. Long lasting
2. No fling
3. Easy to apply dry finish
4. Wouldn’t wash off
5. Variable finish, matt, shine or gloss
It seemed they spent hours polishing and detailing there cars and about 2 minuets dressing the tyres with a quick wipe over.
Rubber Dub has been developedto achieve all of their requirements. Firstly it is not a dressing as are most products. The word “dressing” would indicate that a product is only laid on the surface of the rubber, and therefore would come off easily and not last.
Rubber Dub penetrates the texture of the rubber, nourishing the rubber it is protecting from within.
The most difficult thing we had to overcome during our development of Rubber Dub was the huge variety of tyre wall textures and compounds which vary dramatically between different manufacturers and types of tyres. So there is no single rule, some tyres buff up and really shine with the first regular coat, others that have a matt finish do need a little more work. When Rubber Dub is applied and without buffing they all tyres look the same as they did when they were brand new, and I we know of any tyres that come out of the factory with a high shine. The shine is achieved buy polishing the carnauba content of the Rubber Dub and results may vary.
Why carnauba wax ?
Carnauba is natural vegetable wax which occurs as a protective coating on the leaves of Copernica Cerifera, a Brazilian palm tree. Carnauba is a hard, brittle wax. Carnauba emulsions have broad FDA approvals. Carnauba emulsions are used in fruit coatings, can coatings, furniture polishes, graphic arts coatings and latex products.

Tony,
You should post that info on df.com instead of linking it to other forums. :) It'll help drive more traffic over here!
