So this year with all the snow in Long Island I am battling to keep my car clean.

Without ONR I would lose my mind! as i have no clear coat i cannot take me car near a car wash. anywho

In a news cast before one of our major 2 footers of snow coming i heard-saw about a new substance that is some mixture of sand and ?????

they put it on before the snow (used others in a post but this was NEW) on streets to prevent freezing.

On my black car this crap causing lot of white spotting lime like damn-- makes salt look like ez street...thank god for my 90 layers of sealant .....

anyone familiar?

It might be the same stuff we have here. I was told by a city worker that it's pretty much tree sap and is thick like maple syrup. That combined with the sand and other chemicals it gets everywhere and sticks to the paint.

It's slick too which kinda defeats the purpose of deicing to me. 2 years ago before a snowstorm hit they laid it down all over and I slide sideways turning through the intersection at under 5 mph.

Snow? What is that? :-\"

Whatever that other stuff is, it doesn't sound fun on your paint.

Most likely they pre-treat the roads with liquid magnesium chloride.

Mayhaps butttttt it is a sand based mixture that was eing discussed . Ithink this liquid is older and not new per se.

cheers

Then maybe what you are looking for is Magic Salt. I know they do mix that with sand also. Only thing is that it doesnt leave any visible residue they say.

I assure you, the residue is visible, you see the fog, and your car is covered with it.

actually looking forward to 3 days heavy rain
