What have you guys done to your cars lately other than detailing. Whether it be new wheels, engine work, or even routine maintenance lets see what you got going on. I'll go first. I've ignored some issues with the daily for a while now and finally got the time and motivation to take care of them.

swapped a set of low miles gears from a non-lsd transmission into my lsd transmission

put in a ACT six puck clutch while I was at it

and not too long ago I pulled down my saggy headliner, pulled of the felt, and covered it in carbon fiber

Dude, my car needed 4 new tires since like 10k ago, but I still haven't done it because I don't want to spend $1250, but I tell you this much, the paint looks freaking awesome.

I haven't had a chance to do much besides change the air freshener and replace some worn tires. I still need to take my winter wheels/tires off the Durango and change the leaky oil cooler lines on my trusty old beater 7.

Are tires just that expensive out there for a normal car or do you need special Y rated tires or something? Last time I put new tires on it was a set of Michelins and it was only about 700.

He lives in CA and I bet Governor Arnold has a huge tire disposal fee attached to any new tire purchases. Am I right detaildoc?

About $850 to $900 for the 4 tires for my Lexus EX350 plus the labor at the dealer. I don't trust taking my car to any other place where they could f up all the sensors. And yeah, as****e Arnold probably did add crazy fees to that.

What kind of race car? Sounds fun!

It's a 96 240sx with a 2.0 inline six turbo that's been bored and stroked out to a 2.4 and add a 75 shot. Backed it up with a Nissan Pathfinder transmission and a R33 rearend. I want to swap the rearend out for a Q45 one and put in a clutch type lsd but, that's a little ways off. Mainly use it for test and tunes at the local drag strip and cruise but, we filled the water jacket up to the bottom of the freeze plugs this summer so there's not going to be a lot of cruising in the future.

Nice, 240's have grown on me and we have quite a few at the track for drifting events. Actually a few guys in our RX-7 club bought 240's as their drift cars and really like them.

Recharged the A/C a few days ago on the daily driver 7. It's really nice to have A/C again since it's been around 100 everyday. The window cooling system wasn't cutting it.

A/C compressor blew up on the freeway today. After some research I know what I did wrong and can fix it :D

I was driving along blasting the stereo when all the sudden I heard a bang and felt a small jolt so I looked in my rear view mirror to see a huge cloud of blue smoke. My first thought was oh crap, I knew this day would come but the car ran fine and the gauge cluster didn't show anything abnormal.

As I was pulling over the cold air turned warm and after opening the hood I could see the compressor smoking it's last breath. I turned off the A/C and let it idle for a minute until the smoking stopped and carried on. Back to the window cooling system!

Picked a Volvo S80 T6 a few weeks ago on a mechanics special. It needs a transmission, control arm bushings, an o2 sensor, and some other little things I'll be tidying up.

That's a sharp looking ride, jdmser. What year is it? Are you doing the transmission work or is someone else?

Thanks doc, it's a 00'. The body and interior is in pretty good condition but the paint needs a lot of love. I used to be a mechanic so I do all my own work except for any machining. I'd like to keep this one but, I got it for such a good price I can't afford to miss out on the money I'll make selling it when it's done.

Nice car, I'm sure you won't have any problems selling it when it's all fixed up.

A few weeks ago on one of the RX-7's......

I changed the water pump, thermostat, upper and lower radiator hoses, heater hoses, and the radiator cap. Flushed and refilled the system. I also removed and cleaned the BAC valve which improved my idle a ton with the headlights, stereo, etc on. I changed all the belts while I was in there.

I few years ago I pulled into the parking garage at LAX to pick up my wife when suddenly one belt went and took the rest out with it. I had to rent a car at the airport to get back home and go back the next day and fix it in the parking garage. Hi honey, how was your flight? So, we kinda sorta have a small problem lol. They charged me an arm and a leg to get the car out of the garage too! Since then I've been anal about replacing the belts. RX-7's and I have a long history of being stranded together but I love them.

Dave, we're going to need pics of the rx7s.

Recently I took the intake for my 240 to the engine builder so we could finish it up. I needed to have a spacer made so that the new throttle body will clear the valve cover.

I started driving my wife's Tahoe since her dad gave us an '02 Pontiac Transport. The Tahoe was the family car and I have a 6 yr old and a 4yr old. It hasn't been cleaned on the inside since the time we brought our first child home from the hospital. I spent two hrs. tonight on the leather seats and removing crayons, straw wrappers, and just a whole bunch of debris that has collected over the 6 yrs that we have had the truck. We were smart enough to never let them eat meals in the truck. Oh well, tomorrow I vacuum and clean floor mats. It's coming along. I should have taken before pics. Oh Well.

Here's one of my FC's that I have on my phone. I started removing that chrome crap on the bottom and had to stop. I ended up sanding most of it off because it was super thick and had been on awhile.

I just put it up for sale to make room for a 65 Impala.

Fire hose time! Admittedly our family car looks like crap. I can't keep up with my squad of monkeys.

Then a JLP Air Induction kit (on right) with a K&N filter
