My most noticed details of a "detail" that may get overlooked

Wheel Wells
rearview mirror - glass and dressed
Door jambs
Trim including door jambs, trunk, hood, convertable, etc
Inner wheels
Under and inbetween seats
Headlights/Tail Lights - swirl hideouts
Trunk
Exhaust tips - fart cannons need love too :p
Chrome trim
Plastic lenses
Inside fuel doors
Engine plastics and hose dressing
Bottom side of hood

Maybe I am anal but I notice this stuff at car shows and other events. It's easy to get caught up in paint work but it's all the small things that add up for the overall appearance.

I remember my first car show, one of the judges told me some of the things he looked for as far as appearance while he kindly ripped my car apart :( That was one of the things that made me want to learn detailing.

Super greasy looking tires seem to be plentiful :)

mirrors on sun visors
headliners
seat tracks
seat belts

I'll think of more and post again.

IMO, if you don't get or do most of those things it's just a car wash not a detail. However, I do charge extra for headliners and engine bays. Headliners because it is time consuming and messy and engine bays eat a lot of chemical. One more place that is frequently over looked are the storage areas for the seats on newer minivans and suvs.

No doubt, most people don't know the difference.
