I'm building a new house and considering laying the engineered wood floor myself. I've done my homework on tools and technique a good bit. Any DIY'ers out there do this before? I'm fairly handy but it would be my first time.

my dad never pays to have anything done, and when we redid out kitchen we paid to have it done...

Nothing like bad knees and then being on them for 8 hours...

If you rent all the equiptment, and have a good idea then i would say go for it.

I helped install laminate "wood" flooring at my parent's house. It's pretty easy. We just bought like 15 boxes of Harmonics laminate flooring to finish up the rest of the house.

If it is the real deal, then I would hire it done. Hardwood flooring is a skill all by itself. If it's the imitation stuff, that's not so bad (laminate flooring).

If it is the real deal, I would consider having someone else do it. You want someone to back it up, when it starts to swell and shrink like wood does. I don't pay for anything to be done on my house, but that is one thing I would consider having done.
