Lately I've come across some pretty nasty stains. Stuff that after spending hours with the extractor and even using multiple spotters didn't want to budge. One of them being a dealer car I was told to "just paint over it" by the dealer. The carpet was clean and dry, the stain was covered, and the color blended well but, my soul felt a little dirty. What is your guys opinion on using carpet dye to cover up stains that aren't coming out, last resort or hack move?

jdmser, I have had what I would call "limited success" with spraying floor mats (haven't done full carpet yet). The first results look great but after time, wear, and more cleanings the stains slowly reappear. I wouldn't consider it a hack job if the customer knows up front what to expect. You did the best you could under the circumstances.

+1

In the end you gave your customer what they wanted considering the situation.

I agree with Dave and doctordon, you are always going run into stains/spots that aren't going to come out (battery acid). In the end, do you what you can to get it out, but yes the carpet dye should be a last resort
