Anyone looking forward to this tablet? I have had my eye on this since it was a rumor and now it's getting closer to launch! I don't have the luxury of hanging out at my desk all day (I wish) and carry a laptop around. This looks like the device for me.

I'm also waiting for BB to release a new phone that's worth a crap.

Happy turkey day to you too, and everyone else!

The QNX should be migrating into the phones very soon, hopefully. Sometimes I wonder what RIM is thinking because they have been getting smoked in the phone dept for a long time. BB suits me well though. I almost bit on the ipad but held off.

Definitely getting one. Excited to see the QNX coming to the BB also. No doubt the specs of the Playbook kill those of the ipad.

I think the first gen iPad was severely limited, likely on purpose so there could be a reason to buy the second gen-USB port, for example.
The Blackberry looks nice, maybe a little small though. The first gen "netbooks" were 7" and now there doesn't seem to be any under 10" so I'm wondering about this being a good size choice.
But, cost is a big factor and I haven't heard anything concrete about the final price, and rumors range from $490 to $2000, so there seems to be some variance.

Hopefully there isn't the let down once the Playbook is released that the Torch had. (or was it the Storm?)

I think 7 inches is perfect for those who want more mobility and convenience. I often see people with ipads and I say to myself "what's the point? Might as well carry my Sony Vaio Z which is not much larger and not much heavier than the ipad and I get all the functions of a super fast and awesome laptop." Here are the most recent leaks on the Playbook princing:

8GB: $399
16GB: $499
32GB: $599

Supposed to be released in Q1 as well as many others and have two versions, Andriod and a variation of Windows 7. I think theres also a 10" and 12" version. Im used to carrying a laptop so size insn't a really big factor for me if it performs well. Comes with a keyboard dock that folds together like a laptop too.

I agree that the ipad is limited which is why I passed. Steve want's you to buy apps and a mac to go with your ipad. I guess Blackberry is doing some of the same though.

I thought the 8GB was an error? Some one at RIM said there would be 16, 32 and 64 during an announcement. A 7" tablet would be easy to carry for sure. I'm willing to work with any size as long as it performs.

That was the storm, I'm still using the Storm1 lol. I am patiently waiting and saving my NE2 for a improved version while everyone else has already jumped ship. Email is great on a BB though and I use mine for 40% of the emails I send out.

That one looks interesting also. Yeah I think you are right, I think the 16, 32, and 64 are the most recent rumors.
