I'm here. I've been busy with rotating house guests, so my online time has been limited.

I have autocad 2006, and 2002 on my work computer, and 2006 on a cd from home use, and 2002 loaded. What plotter are you getting? And what type of CAD do you do?

We are just getting a low end HP. DesignJet 500 I think? It will be better than the HP we have now. ;)
Well, I went to college for Architectural Contruction Technology and worked at an architect for 3 years and now I do mostly civil work like roads, water mains, sewer systems, and all of that fun stuff. I really don't do CAD that much anymore though, my time is divided between CAD work, and construction management work so I am 50/50.

Ahhh.. nice nice

Going to college for Tool Design (just need a degree) and work currently at a electrical contractor. We do big work, mostly hospitols and poop plants. Been doing this for about 3 years, and only 19!!!

The HP DJ 500 isn't a bad plotter. Small enough to be efficent but big enough to plot what you need.

We currently have 3 HP 1050c's, 1 HP DJ 750, and a few other old plotters. The 1050c is a really nice plotter. But probably too large for what you are doing.

(i could talk CAD all day..)

Yeah, it would be too large and too expensive. I do government work so we have a small budget to work with. I am lucky to get anything at all let alone a new plotter, pc, and AutoCAD 2006!
What school are you going to?

Chaney

Schoolcraft...It is cheap and about 4 miles from work :D :D

Yeah i think i am 20 credits out of 66 done...only gone a year...

I really like doing cad but get annoyed quickly with the people i deal with, and the slack ass attitude...

Have thought about going to school for Automotive Repair, mainly work on drivetrains of cars, suspensions and the such..but that is an even more expensive route to go....

Not bad at all! I actually started off at the University of Michigan in Dearborn for Mechanical Engineering. I hated it. I thought I would love doing the work but I hated it. I was goign to stop going and go to an autobody school until an old friend of mine, who owned a body shop, yelled at me for the idea because it was not fun work. That is when I decided to go to good ole HFCC. Not a bad school actually. Much better than U of M in my eyes. They upgraded PC's and equipment non stop where as at U of M we were 5 years behind everyone else and the equipment hardly worked to begin with.

Yeah, technology is lacking at Schoolcraft "high"...they are useing old equiptment that would randomly just die on us.. But the teachers were understanding about losing work.

I have heard the HFCC wasn't that bad, and I would never attend a university that i can get teh same degree for half the price. I was planning on going to LTU but i passed on the expensive school. And who looks where the degree came from anyways????

Yeah, LTU is a good school. I had a seminar there last year and looke daround a bit. But once they went from Lawrence Tech. to Lawrence Tech. UNIVERSITY their prices more than doubled.
