Chemicals and techniques.
Edit: Here is my technique.
First I vacuum the carpet and mats to get rid of all of the loose dirt. Then I spray the carpet with a cleaner (I use all different cleaners. ClearKote, Poorboy's, and Four Star mostly.) Next I go over the carpet with a han brush or a brush on my PC, depending on how dirty or stained the carpet is. Fianlly, I go over the carpet once more with the vaccum.

I have used oxi clean plenty of times in the past for my home carpet. However, I have a few carpet cleaners at my finger tips so I use those. ;)

I love it. Works great for picking up animal hair too!
I have a Bissel stand up cleaner for the home. Actually, it was going to go into the garbage but I tore it apart this weekend and found the heater element clogged so it works perfect now. I was going to start using it for cleaning cars but for one, I can get hotter water out of the sink than this thing is making and two mine does not have a moving brush on the attatchment wand. So I figure the PC with the brush and the shop vac should do a better job. Althought I have been thinking about a Bissel Little Green Machine.

I think the wife has a hoover that we used in the house. The wand doesnt seem like it moves fast enough or the bristles are too soft. I think i'm going to try your route with the pc brushes next time i get some cash.

Yeah, I find using a brush, whether a hand brush or PC brush really helps bring the embedded dirt loose. A lot of guys just throw the mats on the ground and hit them with a power washer. I would really like to get a power washer for next year.

I have done that but the wait for them to dry is sooo long...

It does bring the fluffyness back to them..

What are the PC brushes you speak of?

I just added a Dyson vacumn and it picks up everything animal hair and all. The only thing it has a hard time of getting is stuff that is entangled in the carpet. Its a little on the pricey side but if ever get one and try it compared to your normal household it blows it away.

Ok, I got a response from them, it was sitting in our bulk mail so I missed it earlier.
We have to fill out a question/survey sheet and return it to them and then see what they say.
I will keep everyone updated.

As to the Bissell Little Green Machine, I've found that if you have a Shop Vac with really good suction, you'll get better results with it than the Bissell. The LGM don't have much suction, and often leave *lots* of moisture in the carpet. The LGM are almost all plastic, so they aren't made for "industrial" use. The LGM are loud. As well, the hose isn't too long, so if you were doing a large car/truck/SUV/etc. the machine would have to be brought into the cabin, possibly set on the seat, just so the end reaches all areas. This is a problem 1)because the noise is intensified within the enclosed space, and 2)you may get water/dirt/etc. on the seat from the machine. You'd probably end up having to put some plastic down first. Also, the water isn't "injected" into the carpet, it's more like what you might get from a spray bottle. If you got yourself one of those pump sprayers, you'd likely get better results. Along those lines, they have a fairly small water capacity. If you are doing your own car once in a while, then it may be fine, but if you have your own business, the repeated refilling/emptying will become annoying quickly.
In short, if you don't have a good Shop Vac, and are using it only for personal use, a LGM may be a good choice. If you are a pro, look for something more substantial.
As to the vacuuming, if you don't have a beater bar, you *might* want to try using a rubber mallet and pounding (not viciously, mind you) the carpet. This will loosen up the dirt from deeper in the fibers.
If you like having a tool do the work for you, and don't want to risk having your PC near liquids, the Black and Decker Scum Buster can be bought with a carpet attachment, which, although not overly powerful, will help "shake things up."
Hope this is helpful to someone!

Nobles anser. I like it, we use it quite heavily, but the handle broke once. $30 replacement. it was from a custodian stepping on it though. http://www.nobles.com/prod_svcs_display_detail.asp?brand=Nobles&product=carpetext&prodid=479

Thanks! I am going to try and find some prices online for it. I am just curious what they run.
