been a while since I posted, been buisy.... anyways, today, I started stripping off what maaco called a paint job on the bmw. using only a brillo pad and hope I removed a 6" section in hopes to find some useable paint underneath. Good news for me! turns out the paint is in a good/fair condition and really shined up with ssr3-2-1. I'm excited to remove the rest of the black. I'll be sure to post a pic or two after a whole panel is complete. I figure a week or two and a couple of beers later I will have a blue bmw. I didn't actually think this would work!

Wow.. that's ballsy! Glad it's working out for you though :D Gotta wonder why anyone would put maaco crap over decent paint?

well, I won't mention names, but it is an xceed member. he has my yellow bronco and plans to maaco over my $3k yellow paint job with black on that too. makes me want to cry. but I don't miss $120 fillups all I can say is the guy loves black i guess.

yeah, there wasnt much prep done, looks like a green scrubby pad then primer. I found 2 tone pinstripes today. cool! of course, I am prepared to accept that there must be some paint damage under there, and some touch up will be required. but worst case scenario, I take it to rotan and repaint in cosmoblau.

You'll have to post pictures of this once you're done. I'm curious how it turns out.

I'll post pics this weekend. turning out better than expected. paint is good, although clear is not. so a quick respray of clear should bring it back. I only have 1 fender done, but, I have only spent like 3-4 hrs. total on it. been busy as usual. I will probably just respray clear at rotan in canada to save a few $. I was really hoping that I had a single stage paint, my color came in both, but I guess that in 85 they only used base/clear. overall, pretty easy to do.
