Ok i started on my first real detail on my black 03 Durango and i have a couple of questions.
1. I used Claymagic bar the blue one when you clay isnt it suppose to take the wax off? I notice mine didnt but it did take all the dirt and grim and left a smooth as glass feeling.
2. Do most of you use a spot repair pads or are you doing the smaller areas by hand?
3.When your taking out swirls with ss2.5 do you do slow passes and do you continue until the swirl is out? or do you stop when its faint then start with ss1.0.
Thanks! :)

-Clay should take most of the wax off. What makes you think it didn't?
-I always just use my PC and the 7.5" pads. Even for the small repairs. I know a lot of people use a 4" pad for the smaller repair jobs though and it will probbaly cut through them in less time.
-Well, when taking out swirls I always work small areas at a time and go nice and slow. It all depends how deep they are to tell whether you will need more passes though. Usually one pass of SSR2.5 does the trick. I would go to SSR2 before SSR1 as well.

-I guessed it wasnt up because it beaded up pretty good after a rain.
-Ok ill give it a try with the 7.5 pad
-what pad are you using on the ssR2?
Thanks for advice BTW Since we had that storm today i doubt if i get any more work done on it until the weekend.

Yeah, it might not of taken it all off then.
It all depends on how bad the paint is in. The last car I did I used a white pad with SSR2 but I even, sometimes, use a black pad.
We need rain! Has not rained or stormed in my neck of the woods for weeks!

Clay comes in a variety of aggresivness so it probably is just a fine clay is all.

This is pretty much the same for me. I hit the hood of my buddy's miata this weekend with SSR2 .. just took it nice and slow, worked it in very thoroughly in sections. Ended up doing this twice and it came out great. There were probably a few more spots I could have used SSR3 first to get rid of a bit more of the swirls but for the most part, it turned out very very well. This would be the 2nd job in a row where I kicked myself for not taking before/after pics :(
