They use a molded rubber backing plate that fits where a normal one would, then there is a 5/8 x 11 nut/washer that holds the pad in place. Hook and loop is much more convienent. The nut/washer threads on the hub of the machine.

Won't that leave something expos that may scratch the vehicle?

The metal center hub which holds the pad to the backing plate gets burried very deep. Its very well protected.

Most Rotary machine, when purchased new come with a rubber backing plate and hub for bolt on pads. Some companies have switched to hook and loop backing plates. We sell the backing plate and adapter if someone wanted to purchase them.

Cool, thanks! I just bought a Makita and it came with the hook and loop backing plate. I looked through the list of products you carry last night but missed the plate. I will probably order one with our next order.
Thanks again!
