View Full Version : Any Cyclo users here?
This product line might be in our near future but I was wondering how many used it and what they thought of it?

I just got rid of mine after purchasing my new pc 7336. I just like how it is lite weight and easy to move around, unlike the cyclo. If you have a rotary and pc your set in my opinion.
Thanks for the reply Shaun.
I sent them the wrong paper work and had to re-submit things. So I am just waiting to hear back from them now.
Anyone else have any thoughts or input on the Cyclo? I have been contimplating carrying this item for months now. I just want to make sure their is a market for it before I make a decision or not.

I have never used one. For me I cannot see paying the price. I think there is a greater market for the Porter Cable random orbital at 1/2 the price. You already have the pads.

Yeah, I have been trying to sell the Porter Cable but they are not the easiest company to deal with. It is like they don't want to even bother with the little guys. :(
I am considering purchasing a cyclo in the immediate future. I have shopped around a bit for the best deal. Let me know if you can get one and some LC pads.

I'll keep you posted. I should know in the next day or so.

I've only tried a Cyclo once or twice. I wasn't impressed. It was certainly a very well balanced machine. That's very important since it is a rather large and heavy machine. However, I couldn't really get it to do anything that a PC or rotary couldn't handle better/faster. I especially didn't like the shape of the polishing head and pads. It wasn't possible to squeeze into any tighter areas, and it was too easy to bump the edge of the spinning heads against the paint.
Maybe this is one of those machines that takes more time to master since there are many people who rave about the Cyclo. For me, the first time I used a PC or rotary, I thought "Yeah! This works great!!". I didn't get the same feeling from my experience with the Cyclo. :(

I thought you posted that before but could bot find it. Glad you chimed in again. I actually just got an e-mail from DeWalt and I have to give them a call and see about possibly carrying their sander/polisher. I am still hoping to hear back from Porter Cable as well, who is now a part of DeWalt anyway.
Ok, I had a few e-mails from people interested in the Cyclo, not sure why they don't post here! :P Also, I want to carry their brushes for use on carpet and the PC so in order to I have to carry the actually polisher. I am waiting to hear back from them before I make my first order. :)
Well, looks like I am taking the Cyclo dive! I am going to work on a Cyclo order this weekend and put it through on Monday. :)
Ok, this is what I ordered from Cyclo, so you all know what to expect.
> The Cyclo Polisher Model 5
> White, Green, Orange, and Yellow foam pads (hook and loop)
> Hook and loop backing plates
> White bristled brishes
> A few 16 ounce bottles of their Polish and Sealant. I have not used or seen this yet so I wanted to give it a try.

Bob,
Would the Cyclo pads you are ordering work on the PC with a 4" backing plate? I've got a couple of old ones and they are really terrific for tight areas. It also seems like I get a little more bite from a 4" pad. Anyone else notice that, or is it just me?

They should work fine with the 4" backing plate on the PC. They call them 4" pads but I want to make sure when I get them in that they are 4" pads and not like 3.75" or something before I say they will work for sure. ;) I would hate to have you order them and then the backing plate stick out and become a hazard to the paint.
And yes, the 4" pads are great for more bite. That is the reason I started to carry some 6.5" pads from LCM just because a lot of people like the smaller ones better.

Well I may be the minority here but I love the cyclo for big area polishing i.e. hoods, doors ect that dont have a lot of sharp contours to them. You may have seen my post about selling my cyclo...the ONLY reason for this is for the $$. If you are in the market for a single polisher (no rotory) then I think this is a trade off of pros vs cons. Pros being it does work faster than the PC for paint correction. It is very balanced and doesnt vibrate the S*** out of you while using it vs the PC, that means a lot ot me. Cons are tight/awkward spaces are going to have to be polished by hand. I dont think that the machine weighs a whole lot but it seems people may have issues with it.
I ran into a little bump with the Cyclo. They will be hear but it won't be for a couple of weeks yet. :(
WOO WOO! The Cyclo's will ship today! I should have them mid to late next week.

I use the cyclo since porter cabel doesn´t exist here in Europe. I have a rotary and a cyclo and it´s a wonderful combination. I only use my cyclo when I am applaying wax or sealants. The rotary for the compounding and fine polishing, just switch pads and polish.
Anyway, I would like to test the cyclo sealant, will you ship to Sweden?

I usually only ship to Canada and the States but I will see what I can do for you when it comes in. :)
The Cyclo's are in and on the site! Thanks!

I have been a Cyclo user since '81..my first unit through Tidy Car. For defect removal the Cyclo is far superior to a PC.

I only would go through about 2 sets. keep them brushed off and you will be fine. sometimes a terry towel pressed against the pad works good to get saturated polish and oils out of them.

An old toothbrush works well for any dried product. But from my original machine the velcro pads are a whole new world of convienance (?).
With the old machines the pad was attached to the cup. When you changed pads you changed the whole cup.
