I am looking for something to clean my rims. I was going to try the powerball thingy, but didn't see it with a compound that i thought would work on my rims.

They will be comming off around October 30th, and get a good cleaning, and put into plastic bags and stored for the winter. They seems to have a dull look to them no matter how much i try to clean them. I don't want to scratch the finish because they will chip and look like poo. The hardest part is that there is 15 freakin spokes and they are BLACK! I will attach a picture so you can see them and then give me ideas, I am not consirded with the tires, because they are going to be taken off in the spring.

I know there is some sticky residue on the inside of the rims from when they balanced the wheels and removed some of the extra weights, will one of those plastic razor blades scratch the rims? Also do those work on removing tar from rims?

I have thought about trying some Oxy Clean Paste on them and let them soak in a nice foamy tub of oxy clean, and scrub them down really well. But i am not sure how well it will work.

I used the plastic razor blade when removing some BMW emblems on a black BMW and it left no scratches. I would use a glue remover first though. We sell Four Star Glue and Tar Remover that should work very well and make the job easier. I would not use oxy clean on the wheels. I would use something that is made for automotive purposes. Are these chrome? Billet? Painted?

Eather Painted or Powdercoated. I am not 100% on what Ford Racing uses on them....

Edit it says they are PAINTED black

15 spoke and painted black equal FR500 rims is my guess pic not showing. I would try mixing up in a 16oz or 12oz if you have of 1oz of AIO & 6 oz H2O (6:1) and clean them using a soft brisle wheel brush. Using the power ball can speed thigs up and seeing as how it made of foam it "should" be able to sqeeze in between the spokes. autogeek.net has the power ball on sale........
