Here is a real bummer for you all, not a happy day yesterday. I worked on a 04 wrx sti that needed just some minor polishing. here is the side skirt on the drivers side with a LC black finishing pad+1400RPMs+menzerna FPII+ 2 passes (not very abrasive right? not a lot of heat being introduced right?) Note the area was not hot when I felt it right after I saw it...It wasnt really "burned", just worn away from being so thin. ETG is in my near future. No the fun part of trying to find a replacement skirt, new one or re-paint- whatever is going to be cheapest and done right. (new STI side skirts wil run about $273 grrrrr) too bad I only charged $50 cause it was for a friend. Lesson learned the hard way or should I say the expensive way. But thank God it wasnt a hood or major body panel. COuld have been worse. anyway pic from crappy camera phone...http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v603/scottabir/Picture10.jpg

I got a manager at carstar body shops giving me a break on the price of a spot repair if possible, new wrx side skirts non sti = $200 1 driver side skirt STI = $273, possible repaint repair $60-$100 (hopefully).

I usually just go PC on painted plastic for that reason. Or at least real slow with the rotary (like 1000rpm). Sorry to see that, remember we all make mistakes
