Product Name: CK VM
Product Container: "Typical" clear cylindical bottle. Flip spout cap. Made of #3 recyclable plastic by Empire.
Product Labeling: Drawing of a hot rod with palm trees and a moon in the background. Sticks to bottle well. "Quik Shine" was mis-spelled. ("Quik Shiine") Instructions are better than basic, but it's not a book.
Product Characteristics: Milky white, but separates (PD's) Fairly runny.
Product Performance: I like it! See "Overview" for more detail.
Product Price: Not the cheapest product around, but I feel it's a great value.
Product Safety:Typical "don't eat, rub in eyes...." Is combustible (as opposed to flamable) so NO SMOKING!!
Overview:
Darkens color (even black!).
Cleans mild oxidation rather well. Medium oxidation too!
Cobwebs “disappear†without too much effort, even by hand. (has fillers.)
Works in sun or shade. I find it works better in the shade.
If applied too thick or let sit too long, you can get streaks. A follow up with QS (or other QD, or even a mist of water) helps fix this quickly.
Can remove when wet-no need to let it dry.
Very thin consistency. Milky.
Doesn’t smell like vanilla (at time of purchase, at least). :(
If you work it a bit you can get cob webs to be diminished (as opposed to just filling) but I haven’t gotten it to do much on swirls and deeper marring, at least not with much permanence.
Wet look!
Very nice to use under pure waxes.
I find that it is a VERY helpful product when you are working on a car for a friend that won't take care of it "properly" once you're done, so there isn't much point in reducing the paint thickness to get rid of the swirls, as they'll just be re-introduced soon after anyway.
It's supposed to be able to be used alone (no wax on top) but I haven't tried this.
I think this is a product people should try when they want to start getting serious about car care, as the results are noticable immediately, and it is rather "bubba proof." Not much concern with becoming discouraged using this product (as compared to some that require "whisper thin" layers applied or else you wind up looking for the chisels for removal... not that I would know this from experience or anything, mind you...
