Product Name: Chemical Guys Pro Detailer w/Carnauba http://danase.com/chguprodewca.html

Product Container: Perfectly stable, round 16oz. bottle. Sprayer can get down a lot of volume per stroke but puts out a very fine mist.

Product Labeling: The label is not laminated, so it is bothered by water. The description is good, and the directions are very clear. However, it does not mention to dilute it 2:1 (product:water), which the CG site says you should do for waterless wash duty.

Product Characteristics: It is a bright blue liquid, but more of a purple hue than S&W. Smells great, but I can't quite place it...like fruit-flavored candy, I guess.

How the product was used: I first tried undiluted for a few panels, then diluted and did the rest of the car. The car had a light coating of dust, so I sprayed, waited 10 seconds, and wiped, exactly as with PB S&W. About an ounce was used for the whole vehicle, including the wheels. I typically do a two-step QD process, S&W followed by Mothers FX SW, but this product should replace both as a one-step process.

What I liked about the product: When diluted 2:1, streaking is considerably less than S&W, which isn't so bad in the first place. Most importantly, the cleaning ability and lubricity is on par with S&W, diluted or not...which means it is excellent. Leaves decent shine and slickness (even when diluted), and could serve as a booster wax as long as you don't plan to top with a sealant in the near future. Pro Detailer was super easy to use, just like S&W.

What I disliked about the product: The carnauba in this QD could interfere with the bonding of future coats of sealant...and that's about it! Hopefully Bob will be carrying non-carnauba Pro Detailer in the near future...

Product Price: $7.88 for 16oz., minus forum discount $6.93--it's a decent value, especially when you consider that for most duty it should be diluted 2:1 and that it could potentially replace 2 QD's. When Bob gets gallons, this stuff will be an amazing value.

Product Safety: I find it soothing when sprayed in the eyes. Plus, it smells so good I just had to take a swig.

Why do you suppose it works better diluted than full strength? Or is it just that it doesn't streak as much when diluted?
Would you say the slickness/lubrication is noticably better full strength? (even though you said it's good diluted too)
Why do you suppose it's recommended to dilute it 2:1 for Waterless washing? I would have thought full strength would have better lubrication, thus safer for working on a dusty/dirty surface.
Would you feel safe using this on more than light dust?
How would you describe the shine? more sealant bright? Like a carnauba spray wax? Not quite as carnauba-ish ( is this a word even? :-k )?
Does it mute/enhance flake?
So many questions!! #-o But... enquiring minds want to know! :D

LOL ask away!

First of all, I believe that the dilution is so that it streaks less. It streaks a whole lot less when diluted (not that the streaking is bad in the first place).

Secondly, I felt that cleaning power and lubricity was very good both diluted and straight...I didn't see much of a difference.

Thirdly, the shine I think is in between carnauba and sealant...like a PB EX type shine, if you will. It really doesn't do that much to the paint's luster, but it adds some wetness and durability. The added shine/durability is just what you can expect of a decent, ordinary carnauba booster wax, nothing special. The slickness is definitely that silky carnauaba feeling, but again, only as much slickness as you could expect of a regular old spray wax. The real trick in my eyes is that it can both clean and leave some carnauba protection. It doesn't enhance or mute flake AFAIS, so it's really all positives, no negatives. Again, the only real problem is that the nuba will mess with future coats of sealant. :(

Dilution aides in streak reduction, which is really the Carnuba in the product. if you flip your MF over rubs out pretty quickly.
So says Paul at CG anyhow.

Yup, that's what Paul told me too.
