Got a call Thursday from my Buddies Son. His black Jeep Liberty got Egged the night before.
He managed to get it cleaned off within a couple hours, but it had cracked the clear coat in three places on the drivers side passenger door.

So he came by and I took a look at it last night.

I'm thinking the paint is probably toast at this point, but I'll give it a go. I like a challenge and this could add to my experience in Detailing.

Busted out the Meguiars Clay, then Scratch -X by hand , then MPPC with a Meguiars Polish pad, then moved up to SSR2.5 with the same type of pad.
None of those attempts even came close to doing anything...
I thought I could at least knock it down 50%. wrong I was.

In all fairness, you had to really look at the spot where they were to see them, so I told him you may be able to hide them with certain wax's.
He may run this by his insurance agent to see what they'll cover to have it repainted.

This is the first time I've scene this type of damage. I was surprised to see the Eggs do that kind of damage.

When I was younger, egging houses was about all you heard about, not Cars.. That just wasn't done.

Any ideas on a good hiding glaze or wax guys ?

Have a great weekend.

Oh no! I bet this stuff is like my Dad's Jeep Grand Cherokee's paint. Seriously, bird bomb and even rain just chomp away at the paint, leaving a "solar system", as someone else with the same car put it. There's one massive bird bomb on the hood that's down to the primer at the very least. I'd hate to see what a bird bomb could do. :o

If that Liberty's paint is the same way, you'll never get that crap all the way out. Your tries were definitely too light...get a cutting pad and that SSR2.5, and try try try to get the marring as diminished as possible. Until you can diminish it, glaze/wax ain't gonna do a thang, but if you can any glaze followed by a good carnauba like P21S should do the trick.

thanks for the note

I'll try that next ( 2.5 and cutting pad ) or even try the 3M FC I have and foilow up with the lighter stuff.

My black 06 element was egged a few months ago while I was detailing another car in my garage.
It wasn't the egg matter that destroyed the paint, it was the eggshell.
The force fractures the eggshell which shatters the clear coat. Mine left a golf ball sized area where the clear was just gone.
I had the small panel resprayed and it looks new again. $167. I got $200 for the car I was detailing in the garage. I worked a long time for $33 :?
