I have real bad luck with QD's and streaking (using in the sun or shade, using less or using more), esp on black, red, etc. I have seen it with S&G, fk1 425, etc.

Anyone else have these issues? Was looking at the CG's PD and SW, would these be less likely to do that? The only QD I have been happy with the lack of steaks is S&W, although it is just for cleaning.

Have you tried Quik Shine?

Would it streak less than the CG's products I mentioned?

I haven't tried QS, so I can't compare, but I can tell you that CG SW and PD finish out nicely as long as they aren't in broiling hot sun. Others like FK425, PB S&G, and CG Synthetic tend to smear and are more difficult to finish out.

I agree with Bob. QuikShine seems to streak less than any other QD I've tried. It doesn't add quite as much "pop" as many other QDs, but it will definitely streak less.

You may also want to take a look at your microfiber towels. Sometimes streaking can be traced to the towel rather than the QD. Towels that absorb very quickly can be helpful in minimizing streaking. You could also try a different laundry detergent or an extra rinse cycle if you machine wash your towels. Just some food for thought.

I may have to try QS. The steaking I get, the towel will not remove it, but my finger lighting rubbing on it will, it's very strange.
I already wash my towels with vingear and only a small amount of detergent, so I don't think that is it :|

I detailed a black car today in the shade, but it was hot and humid. It seemed like all my polishes, then EX, then a spray wax all made the paint look blotchy, and the finish came out uneven, very annoying. I'm sure it looked good to the owner, but to me it was frustrating.

What kind of towels were you using? Some of the short napped, less absorbing towels tend to smear QD's around instead of absorbing them so the remaining amount is thin enough to evaporate.

If the towel isn't the problem, and the paint isn't the problem...it's the QD. Do you have any other QD's laying around? Like maybe S&W? The ones you mentioned smear a lot for me, so maybe try another QD that doesn't have any known streaking/smearing issues.

They were medium/long nap towels, PB's and Pakshak. Honestly, I don't think it's a towel issue.

I tried S&W over the FK1 and it just smeared the FK1 again. S&W by itself does not seem to smear. I guess I'll try QS, and CG's PD and SW if they are better for smearing. Just didn't want to buy another QD that had that issue. I've given up on S&G and FK1 425.

I have never had the streaking problem with FK1 425 on either my red or the wife's dark metallic gray car. Are you sure it isn't your base that is the problem? By that, I mean whatever wax/sealant you are trying to boost with a QD.

Not sure but it has done is on EX, NB and CMW.
