Do you always clay before polish/waxing?

Do you always clay before you wax or polish? I am more wondering about a car that you have already clayed in the past 2-3 months and polished and waxed. Now its time to put another coat of wax as the carnuba is starting to deteriorate. Maybe its almost completely gone :-k I was thinking maybe doing the horizontal surfaces and the lower vertical. But hell might as well do the whole thing then. :?

I clay often. Especially on daily driven vehicles. If you clay often I recommend the Sonus green clay. If you clay like 4 times a year I would say go for the grey clay by Sonus or Four Star.

I would like to clay often, I think it makes that paint feel slick and soft if that possible. :? I guess I will have to add that green clay to my next order. And I thought I was getting close to slowing down on ordering stuff. lol

It's personal preference, but in general a good rule of thumb is to clay with a medium grade every 3 months.

I wouldn't say often. I guess it all depends on where you drive, how far, what the conditions are and all of that jazz.

For sure medium for a first time clay. Even my new truck needed medium, the fine would not cut it. And the fine clay for claying I would say like every month. I know people who fine clay with every wash.

I clay everytime I detail, which is twice a year, Spring and Fall. I don't drive much so, that helps out and my vehicles are always garaged. I wash just about every week.

To me, it depends on how your vehicle is used. If you drive a lot, have a lot of contaminents in the air (like living near an airport), lots of trees, park outside all the time, then you may want to clay frequently. If you are like me, then twice a year should be alright.

I tend to clay once or twice a year. Usually after winter is over just to make sure theres nothing stuck.

I always clay before polishing, and usually before waxing. After a couple months there's always something it picks up.

On daily drivers I usually do a good full detail 2-3x per year. That is the time that I will clay because I will be following up with a polish. Inbetween those details I add wax whenever without claying. I wouldn't clay before a wax just incase the clay marred the paint, even a little. That being said, I haven't used the Sonus green clay yet.

So yes, I always clay before polishing, on my car and others. And no I don't clay before waxing.
