Thought I'd share some pics of the detailing job I did last week. It entailed washing, claying, washing, polishing, sealant, sealant, wax.

And a picture of me

Just for reference, color is Dark Gray Metallic with the factory orange peel .

Not to many good backgrounds around here to take a pic of the entire TB .

Nice job! Sharp reflections in the top pic and great pop on the metallic. Chevy definately mastered the art of orange peel!

Orange peel is standard on many of there vehicles. On there newer, recently redesigned vehicles, I've seen a reduction in the amount of orange peel I had a Chevrolet Cobalt as a loaner and that paint job looked much better than mine! And this was on a $14,000 vehicle :x .

I didn't really do a good job on polishing as I would like. The roof and hood have a lot of water spots that I can't remove. For some reason I have a hard time with water spots. I tried the more aggressive polishes and pads before, but they just don't come out.

Also fearful that I may polish more of the clearcoat than I would like. Everytime I detail (Spring/Fall) I polish.

Looks nice! What products did you use? I always like to know what does well on different color paints.

I wasn't putting you down, jauto. I have 4 Chevrolets and they all have it. In fact the one whose finish I care about the least (work van) has the least amount of orange peel. Go figure!

Nah, I didn't take it that way. GM is known for there orange peel. Just joking around about it. :)

Eventually, I want to get a rotary, hopefully that will help. But like the PC, there is a learning curve. You can't really screw up using a PC, but a rotary you can.

Doesn't a good wash, especially in the winter, make you feel better?

Yes, I do see some of that factory installed texture in the finish. Don't worry, though...the truck looks good.
