I have seen this used on an awful lot of surfaces. I recently saw a video from Adam's Polishes, where Adam was using it on wheels. Would this take off the white lettering?

On the tires? I think those are white all the way thru the tire if im not mistaken.

Yeah, close to it anyway. I would be more afraid of it damaging my wheels than anything. I have used it diluted 50/50 on some heavily nasty wheels but I hate doing it.

I know Bob and I have seen it do some funky things to metal surfaces in engine bays.. we switched to using a citrus based degreaser at that point and I'm a bit scared to use SG anywhere visible.

It can be diluted and all but why risk it? A good citrus based cleaner like B&B mentioned is the way to go.

Tonight if I have time I will post a link to the video footage.

I have used Adam's Poducts, and think some of there stuff is great. IMO Adam's has some of the best OD I have used. Of course I am just a novice beginnger wanna be.

I have just seen Simple Green do too much damage to steel and rubber to want to use it on tires and wheels.

That guy should invest in a better sprayer .. I don't want to pump one of those little sprayers that many times to coat an engine!

But... simple green makes a mess of aluminum under hoods.. I've seen it happen many times on my personal cars to trust it under the hood of anyone elses car.

I would also be leary of using Simple Green. I've seen personally what it can do if used incorrectly. I watched those videos and really don't agree with several of the uses of simple green in them. You only have to make "one" mistake to regret it! There are products better suited (and safer) to cleaning tires, wheels, engine compartments, and leather than Simple Green.
