Anyone?

Nope. I have looked at the Finish Kare system before but decided against it. Don't we more or less get to the same place with washing, claying, polishing and waxing?

Actually it isn't the same. It does more than clay does. The paint decontamination systems neutralize the acids and alkaline in the paint where a clay will not do this.

Polishing won't pull anything out at all. It just smooths out the containments.

Waxing will just cover them.

Interesting, very interesting. I did not know that. Thanks for the info. When I looked it to it I just kinda skimmed the info.

How often do you do this? Is it at every wash or like once a year?

I would say once to twice a year but that all depends on what sort of environment the vehicle sees on a daily basis. For a normal daily driver I would say once to twice a year. For a car that sits at a rail yard surrounded by factories daily you might have to go more.

Like bluezero I have seen FK's system. Never read of anyone using it. Is it a stronger chemical cleanser? than say like P21S Paintwork Cleansing Lotion or 4 stars prewax cleaner. Seems interesting but idk if its something that many customers of detailers would purchase/understand. I really didn't look to see how time consuming something like this is.

It's chemicals (in liquid form) that you use during the washing step for your car. Maybe acid isn't the right word but as Bob said it is like a very deep cleaning of the paint.

I have heard only little about the FK1 system but Auto International also has the ABC car wash system (http://www.autoint.com/autostore/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=212) which is what came to mind while reading this thread.

But no, I have not used it before...

These systems aren't really the same as a cleanser like you are thinking of. These will remove fallout particles and rust and not just prep the surface for waxing. Usually how the systems go is you will have a product that you use that will strip the waxes and sealants, greases, tars, and so on and will get the surface ready for the next step which is usually the actual fallout remover. The final step is usually some sort of wash that will neutralize the ph from the fallout remover. As for how long it takes you can figure on leaving the first and second steps on for 5-10 minutes and hosing them off after each wait time with a hose and usually cold water. The wash would take whatever a wash normally takes you to do. So figure 30 minutes or so.

Gotcha! I just went an read some about fk's and the abc budman mentioned. They both sound exactly the same. Interesting thou.....I wonder how it would make a white car look? since I think contaminates would show more on a light color but then again black looks dirty alot quicker. Can't win for losing.

I actually know some dealers using them on their new cars that already have the brown rusty rail dust specs on them.
The reason I was asking is because I am working on coming up with a similar system.

I could see dealers using it alot or should use it. It would be something that I would probrably try to see if I could tell a differnce. The fk and abc didn't mention claying. I would think this would still be benefical and if it could be incorporated into one of the steps then I think that would be a plus and a time saver. Maybe at the last step but for some reason I don't like claying while washing and I haven't had good results trying it then either. A QD works best for me.

When I bought my truck in 2004 I wanted to take delivery undetailed..but the service manager told me their is a service bulletin to use a decam system before delivery...

I went over to the prep shop and talked to the guy there and he said they use the AutoInt product..That is the product FMC uses for this process...

They actually did a nice job on the truck...they did the decam and they did a sealant by hand on it...was not the 5 year gimmick stuff. but a bottle with the Ford logo on it...that you can buy at the dealers..I had no swirls or marring...truck was never touched with a buffer ..that was my order...NO buffer work..

When I got home i did the plastic bag test on the paint and it was smooth as glass..so the decam system worked..

Yes, they work for sure. Danase might have one in the future.

The only news i have is that it is a big pain in the rear. LOL Some of the chemicals involved shipping companies do not like so I am not sure if this will be a go.

Bob,

Grab the Automotive International System, from all the users that have gone from FK to AI, they've all reported AI is easier to use. Considering it's OEM authorized and they have bred all their products on OEM manufacturer materials. The chemicals are cheap and they work amazingly well.

AutoInt's Odor Remover, ETR Kit, APC, Dressings are all top notch from what I hear. OR would probably be the most worthwhile.
