Well I received my bottle of Product D today. I put an ounce or so into about 20 ounces of water in a spray bottle. I played around with it while I was grilling some burgers tonight. So far it looks to be a nice all around cleaner. I have to check on some products we have at home, but it has a very familiar smell. I just can't place it yet.

Anyway, back to the testing.. I tried it on various surfaces and it worked well on everything I used it on. I used it on glass, plastic, vinyl and paint. It wasn't quite strong enough on the paint as I did a spot on my hood that had some water spots from today's rain and it left one spot on the small area I did. Hopefully it's not etched in there as I just polished the front of the car. I also used it on a couple spots on my chrome rims that had some brake dust staining. It was very light staining, but regular washing didn't remove it. But this stuff got it off pretty easy with a little light rubbing. I used it on the plastic part that goes over the radiator area on my wife's SUV which was very dirty, and it cleaned it up very easily. I also tried it on a couple areas of chrome on my convertible that is still a bit dirty from last year and it cleaned up to a nice shine.

I really want to do a stronger bottle of it and see what more it can do. One specific thing I want to test is rust staining. Our SUV is starting to rust on the bottom of the hatch, and as a result the plastic piece on the top of the bumper has some rust staining on it that washing didn't touch. I sprayed this stuff and let it sit for a few minutes and then rubbed it with a MF and it started to remove it. I think with a stronger mix it might make easy work of the stains.

Anyway, I just wanted to give a few quick first impressions.

Sounds good so far...can't wait to hear the rest...

It's raining now so tomorrow I should be able to test Formula D on waterspots myself.

OK, I finally got around to testing a bit more. I added some more product D to the bottle, so it's now about a 6:1 ratio. I sprayed it on the rust stained plastic on our SUV and let it sit for a few minutes. I came back and a MF quite easily removed most of it. The plastic has a texture, so what was down in the crevices wasn't all removed. I also tried again on the badly neglected rims on the truck. It has some really badly caked brake dust, mainly because until recently I didn't have a good tool to get in there with. Anyway, I let it sit on there a few minutes, but unfortunately, it really didn't make much of a dent in it.

But the one other area I tried, and was pretty excited about was the wheel wells. Again, the SUV was the test bed. I always wash the wells when I was the truck, but I've never done any sort of scrubbing on them so they've never been really clean. Plus we had another quick bout of winter this week, so they look filthy. I sprayed on the Product D on half of the well, and let it sit for a few minutes. Then all I did was hose it down, I didn't even scrub, and it came out pretty darn clean! Check the pics below to see the results. The light splotches in the second picture are dry spots (the wells need attention, never been dressed).

Front side untouched (sorry I didn't think to take pictures until I did the back half):

Good stuff. I can't wait to get to test the D as well. Hopefully this weekend if the weather behaves. I hate Michigan weather and no garage.

Would Product D work for engines? Or is it too harsh?

It is not too harsh and can be used in engines. All the of the chemicals in the formula are biodegradable as well, I forgot to mention that I think.

Good to know, so there is no environmental problems.
