As the title states, is the 5" DA bp a true 5" or more like 4.75"? How much "oopps" room is there between the edge of the 5" pad and the 5.25 ccs pads?

I have used 6" pads but I like the idea of a smaller pad of the PC these days.

Would a 4.75" bp work better with these than the 5"?

There is virtually no room at all. It's an eighth inch all around, but it really looks even less than that. I think it's nice for centering the pad, but be careful on curves and such.

Since the bp is rubber, would it even damage the paint anyway?
If you could do it over, would you get a 4.75" bp instead?

It's not so much the rubber you have to worry about, it's the velcro backing. I have a 6 inch BP (5 3/4" I guess) and used 6 inch pads and after delamination issues I switched to 7.5" LC pads. The whole BP is wrapped inside the pads so its nearly impossible for the BP to hit the paint. But even with the BP being close to the edge of the pad you shouldn;t have any problems as long as you keep the pad flat on the car.

Personally I don't see there being much difference between having a 5" bp or 4.75" bp. The part I miss that I like about the 6.5" pads I have is the ability to do uneven parts of the car. My hood is a perfect example. Part of the outside of the hood is about 1 inch higher than the middle part, and has about a 45* slope. The 6.5" pads with some pressure will curl up over the edge of the bp, which makes a nice transition when I go up that part of the hood. The smaller pad is not going to do that very well, so I will have to be careful there.

I think I'm going to try a 3.5" BP when I order my CCS pads.

Just waiting for the Wet Glaze (Speed Glaze) to be back in stock so I can place an order.
