Hey guys-

I know that a lot of people in the detailing world fear that 7.5" pads are too large to use with the PC. I snapped a few vidoes to show that even with a significant amount of pressure on speed 5 & 6, the pad continues to spin. This was done with the PC 7424, LC 7.5" pad with SSR1. I like these pads because they are not only effective, they cover a lot of surface area, and I can use them with the PC and the rotary :).

This first video is done on Speed 5:

And now on Speed 6, notice the sound changes:

Thanks for posting. Not sure I've heard anyone say they use a pad beyond 6" on the PC

Do you use it for anything more aggressive than SSR1?

Incidentally, the only time I've ever run a larger pad on a DA machine was to apply wax, which worked fine.

I don't use any other pads... My normal polish sequence is SSR2.5 with a polishing pad and follow that up with SSR1. There aren't many swirls this combo won't remove. I used SSR1 in this instance because the Tacoma has very light swirls and didn't need anything more. The main reason I like these pads is because they surround the backing plate completely, which is nice to have that extra protection.

Actually that is all I used to use was the 7.5" pads on my PC.

I love the 7.5" pads. I would really like to see LC (or another company) make pads that look like these pads but in smaller sizes. They not only protect from the backing plate touching the paint, but they can fit into tight areas on the sides like under side view mirrors or a-pillars, etc. Do you think there is any hope for LC making the variable contour pads in smaller sizes?

Me too. I prefer smaller pads on the PC now, though. Whatever works for ya though...
