Hey everyone. This detail is dedicated to my Aunt who we lost to a short battle with cancer. I received the news about half way through the detail so the results aren't the greatest because I cut some corners to finish quickly so I could be with my family.

The detail: I looked at the weather before I began to wash and it looked like spot showers here and there. I figured all is well, get it washed up and into the garage before the rain. Well about 1/3 of the way through the truck, the skies darkened and the thunder began to rumble. So I was rushed right off the get go through this detail. About 10 minutes after I got the truck into the garage the skies opened up. It seemed like a normal thunderstorm until the winds picked up and then the rain came down by the gallons, including plenty of pea sized hail:

The Process:
-Washed with NXT and shmitt
-PB Clay w/ DP Auto Wash as lube

Drivers side:
-Optimum Hyper Compound, wool pad, rotary polisher
-SSR2.5, polishing pad, PC polisher

Passenger side:
-Menzerna PowerGloss, polishing pad, rotary polisher
-SSR2.5, polishing pad, PC polisher

Hood:
-Optimum Hyper Compound, wool pad, rotary polisher
-Menzerna PowerGloss, polishing pad, rotary polisher
-SSR2.5, polishing pad, PC polisher

Then since I was rushed on time, I applied opti-seal on the paint and vinyl graphics.

Interior-
-Everything was scrubbed or wiped down with Danase Formula D (3:1 ratio)
-Meguiar's #40
-Invisible Glass

Pictures:
Before

After OHC & Wool pad

Considering the circumstances, the truck is a lot better than it was before. I'm not sure why I switched to the PowerGloss but it was decent. I'll need more time to play with it. The Formula D worked great on the interior pieces, I was thinking I'd need to use some BnB diluted down to get it looking black again but that wasn't needed. The opti-seal, very cool product. I don't know how it works but its very cool. I had a few spots where I applied too thickly which I had to wipe off but it looks great. Sorry this has gotten so long, hope you enjoyed the pictures. Thanks for looking.

First, my condolences on your aunt's passing. Dedication helps put the work in perspective.

With that said, I'm sure the owner of the vehicle got more than their money's worth from the before and after pictures. That one of the hood, after the wash, under the halogen lights is just ... wow, that's some roughed up paint. Is it Ford factory? If so, I know it works a bit easier than some paints, but it's still work.

Interesting choice on the two different compounds. Is Power Gloss the one people compare to Elmer's Glue due to consistency and clumping if applied too thick?

Sorry to hear about your Aunt. Its a very important time to be with family. Very nice detail. That hood looks much better. You really brought back the gloss to the paint.
